Rockets stay hot with back-to-back cross conference wins

STRATHROY—

Cross conference play returned to the GOJHL for the first time in nearly a decade this past weekend, and the Rockets picked up a big 4 points to keep pace at the top of the Western conference!

On Friday, Strathroy travelled to Port Colborne to take on the Sailors. The game would be tied 4-4 after regulation time, and need overtime. It didn’t take long for Rockets forward Kyler Morgan to find the back of the net from an odd angle, just 2:48 into the extra period, giving the Rockets the win! Zach Dering scored his first goal as a Rocket, while Nicholas Serratore, Ethan Facchina, and Damian Pancino would also score. Colin Androlewicz made 34 saves in the win!

Back at home on Saturday, the Kitchener-Waterloo Siskins would be in town. With nearly identical records entering the game, you could tell early on it would be an exciting contest. Strathroy would get goals from Jimmy Sutherland, Matthew Souliere, and Mason Landry in regulation, but once again would find their opponents tying the game in the final minutes of the third period, And again sending it to overtime. 7 minutes of 3 on 3 resulted in some good chances, but a shootout would be needed. It took 7 shooters each before the Rockets would come away with the win. Hayden Duncan made 31 saves in net for Strathroy in the win!

Next up, the Rockets travel to London on Wednesday night to take on the Nationals!
