A couple of hometown players and familiar faces are set to return to the Rockets lineup when the 2020-2021 season rolls around. Josh Diamond and Aidan Burns, both Strathroy natives and fixtures in the lineup since 2017, are ready to make an impact in their final season on the club.
Diamond, who joined his hometown club after playing in the Elgin Middlesex Chiefs and Lambton Jr. Sting AAA programs, has been between the pipes since the 2017-2018 season, where he appeared in 17 games as a rookie. Since then Josh has played in over 50 games for the club, with his best season coming last year when he played in 29 regular season games, with a 3.54 GAA, a save percentage of .907, and a pair of shutouts.
Returning on the back end is defenseman Aidan Burns, who much like Josh, joined the club in 2017 after playing for the Chiefs and Jr. sting AAA programs. Burns has played in 132 regular season games with the Rockets, adding 4 goals and 25 assists over the years. The 6-foot-tall D-man will add leadership and a strong defensive game to a Strathroy club who is looking to improve on a 6th place finish last year.
Welcome back boys!
