The Rockets are excited to announce the following acquisitions:

  • Justin Skirten (Komoka Kings Captain): A proven playoff performer, Skirten brings leadership and grit. Heading to Komoka in this trade were Rockets rookies Ben Funston and Gavin Hern.
  • Noah Vandenberg: Acquired in a three-team deal with London and Sarnia, Vandenberg is a versatile, two-way forward who strengthens the Rockets’ defensive game. Zach Vanderwal was sent to Sarnia as part of the deal.
  • Calvin Ilkay: A big-bodied, stay-at-home defenseman, Ilkay joins the Rockets in a three-team trade involving Listowel and Port Colborne. Known for his defense-first mindset, Ilkay will add stability to the Rockets’ back end. Going the other way were Nathan Schaap to Listowel and Johnathan Cirone to Port Colborne.
  • Kasen Beitz: Joining from the Niagara Falls Canucks (OJHL), Beitz is a dynamic forward with a knack for scoring and playmaking. His debut with the Rockets is highly anticipated.

  • Nathan Gerelus: A Barrie Colts OHL draft pick, Gerelus brings a 6’5”, 214-lb physical presence to the Rockets’ blue line. His hard-hitting style is expected to enhance the team’s defensive effectiveness. Braedon Clark was traded to London in this deal.
  • Atley Rogers: Joining from the Chatham Maroons, Rogers is a skilled forward with a solid defensive game. Known for his scoring touch, he adds depth to the Rockets’ forward lineup.
  • Tyler Pais: Also acquired from Chatham, Pais is a stay-at-home defenseman with excellent puck-moving abilities. A local talent, Pais is eager to contribute to this team, and is excited to play in our rink.

Building an Identity

“Our goal heading into the deadline was clear: we wanted to become a team that is harder to play against,” said General Manager Andrew Ferlatte. “We’ve added key players who bring physicality, defensive strength, and scoring ability. These moves not only improve our chances this season but set a foundation for future success.

“We’ve already proven we can beat any team in our division on any given night, and we believe these additions make us even more competitive. We want to be a team that people hate playing against, a team that’s relentless and unyielding. Our new players are excited to be here, and they’re hungrier than ever to win. That’s the culture we’re building.”

Looking Ahead

While these trades bring new faces to the team, the Rockets acknowledge the challenges of change. “Trades are always emotional, but we believe these moves are necessary to strengthen our club for both the short and long term,” said Ferlatte.

Community Focus

The Rockets remain committed to their community presence and will be introducing the new players through various engagements. Special thanks are extended to Community Relations Director Shari Terwilligar for her exceptional work this season.

A Message to Fans

“Although it’s been a busy week, we’re confident in the steps we’ve taken to improve our roster,” added Ferlatte. “We’re building towards a championship and are grateful for the unwavering support of our fans. We look forward to showcasing the talents of our new players as we push towards the playoffs.”

Calvin Ilkay will finish serving a three-game suspension (2-Games Remaining) before making his Rockets debut later this month.
