The Strathroy Rockets have closed out December with an impressive run of games, a series of exciting victories, and a significant roster move that has fans buzzing. With a 5-2 record this month, the Rockets have proven they are a force to be reckoned with as they continue to build momentum heading into 2025.
Notable highlights included a commanding 7-3 victory over Komoka, a thrilling 5-4 overtime win against Caledon, and two hard-fought triumphs over St. Thomas (5-1 and 4-2). Despite close 4-1 losses to London, both home and away, the Rockets showcased resilience and determination, underscoring their commitment to growth.
In a major roster announcement, General Manager Andrew Ferlatte revealed the acquisition of Justin Skirten, a 2nd-round draft pick of the London Knights and the former captain of the Komoka Kings. Skirten brings a wealth of leadership, experience, and playoff pedigree to the Rockets.
“We are pleased to acquire Justin,” said Ferlatte. “He is a true leader, a workhorse, and a proven playoff performer. We are glad to have had the opportunity to acquire him and would like to thank Komoka for the easy process. In the transaction, we sent Ben Funston and Gavin Hern to the Kings. Both have good futures in hockey, and we wish them all the best with their new club.”
This move is a testament to the Rockets’ commitment to building a competitive and resilient roster, ensuring long-term success both on and off the ice.
The Rockets will look to end the year on a high note as they face off against the Sarnia Legionnaires tonight, December 21st, at the WMMC. Puck drop is set for 7:30 PM, and the team hopes to see Rockets Nation out in full force to cap off an exciting month of hockey.
