The Strathroy Rockets started off the 2020 off-season by announcing 4 new player signings this past week, and there are more on the way.
The announcements began on Tuesday with the signing of 2003 born forward Ben tenHag, who is coming off a rookie season with the Exeter Hawks where he put up 26 points, and was named the PJHL Yeck Division Rookie of the Year. The 6’2″ Seaforth, Ontario native spent time with the Huron Perth Lakers AAA organization before making the move to junior hockey.
Also signed this past week was 2002 born forward Caden Faulkner. Faulkner has been playing in the PJHL the past two seasons with the Lambeth Lancers and the Dorchester Dolphins, but looks ready to make the jump up to Jr. B hockey this season. He had 36 points in 42 games last season with the Dolphins.
Joining tenHag and Faulkner up front next season will be the 16 year-old draft pick of the Saginaw Spirit, Brandon Balazs. The 2004 born Tillsonburg, Ontario native spent last season with the Brantford 99ers minor midget team, where he put up 79 points in just 56 games. Balazs was picked in the 10th round of the 2020 OHL Priority Selection by the Saginaw Spirit.
The final signing this past week comes from the Elgin-Middlesex Chiefs Midget team, as 2003 born forward Matthew Pimentel gets set to join the team. The London, Ontario native had a good season this past year, picking up 35 points in 42 games played for the Chiefs.
