This past Friday, the Strathroy Rockets silenced the home crowd in dramatic fashion, defeating the defending champion Listowel Cyclones 5-4. The Rockets put a damper on the Cyclones’ banner ceremony with a gutsy performance, securing a big early-season win.
From the first puck drop, the Rockets brought intensity, with standout performances from both veterans and new faces. Their relentless pressure paid off, taking the Cyclones by surprise and showing the league they mean business this season.
The game also marked an unforgettable debut for 15-year-old Johnny McLaughlin, a 2009-born Affiliate Player and prominent prospect for the upcoming OHL Priority Draft. McLaughlin opened the scoring with his first-ever junior hockey goal and later assisted on the game-winner, showing incredible poise in his first junior appearance.

Congratulations to the boys for the hard-fought victory! The Rockets hit the road this upcoming Friday to St.Thomas as they play the Stars in their home-opener for the 24-25 season. The Rockets aim to continue the momentum into playing spoiler again.. Puck drop will be at 7:30pm Friday, and then the Rockets come home to the WMCC to defend home-ice against Chatham.
